UK Digital ATA Carnet Project Timeline
The digital carnets are currently being tested and must be issued alongside the paper carnets. Here’s what to expect in the next few years in terms of eATA Carnets:
Preparation (2024-2025)
Countries are getting ports and Customs ready.
Digital Carnets are being used for test purposes and must be processed alongside the paper Carnet.
Transition (2026-2027)
First countries will start using digital Carnets.
Digital Carnets are used in digital countries, and paper Carnets in paper countries.
Digital (2028+)
All countries have adopted digital Carnets.
Paper Carnets are no longer used (all transactions must be done on digital Carnets).
